The Norwegian artist, Reidar Bruun, returns to Mhost Likely White with his new EP: ‘Absolut Likely’ - arriving on February 24th with a genre-bending and original masterstroke. Charged with vocal sampling and bass-driven beats, Reidar Bruun invites us for a shrimp cocktail!

From the laden house sounds found in his earlier work, to the hard-hitting techno and house we hear today, both Reidar Bruun’s personal and artistic evolution runs parallel, drawing between the lines of old-school techno and dance music’s modern functionality.

‘Crustacean’ kickstart the EP in Reidar Bruun’s twisted signature as squelchy basslines growl over heavily swung drums and vocal; before ‘Ferryman's Shirt. - a breaky wobbling melter that takes the very best of contemporary bassline and blends it with the fun energy of the vocal sampling.

The headsy vibes on ‘Haggis’ is a welcome switch-up. Its punchy kicks and old-school rave aesthetic invite the listeners to dance as weirdly as they want before the techno tradition drops in favour of 4/4 bests. The percussive patterns, the harsh clash of the kicks, and jackin’ rhythms and repetitive basslines on ‘My Friends Always Told Me I Remind Them of Forrest Gump’ creates a real sense of mid-2010 nostalgia. The EP then closes off with a yummy ‘Potato Cake’ - a trippy and colourful dream told through acidic synthlines and euphoric vocal samples.
